ANNIE
Female, 2 years, 55 lbs
After her field trip to human Annie’s house, dog Annie has a request. She wants a home with at least one kid in the 8-14 age range. Preferably a gamer with whom she can hang out on the couch.
Livestock is very boring, cats are fine, and other dogs are also acceptable. But kids… kids make our otherwise very taciturn Annie smile from ear to ear. Annie is not trustworthy with chickens, but appeared to be uninterested in sheep, goats, and llamas. She met cats who were sassy, scared, and sweet and was polite to them all. Annie wasn’t interested in the other dogs’ food and was fine giving her bone back to humans and other dogs. Given the choice between playing with the resident dogs in the yard or house, or couch surfing with the kids, Annie much prefers to PlayStation and chill. She is polite to other dogs and very tolerant of both energetic and chill canine friends too.
Do you have a kiddo who has been asking for a dog of their own? Annie just might be the perfect dog for you!
_____________

TOOTSIE
Female, 2 years, 43 lbs
Tootsie is as cute as she can be! We are told by her former owner that she is good with other dogs and kids, and knows how to walk on a leash! Apply to meet this pretty gal!
_____________

SCOUT
Male, 7 years, 25 lbs
Meet Scout! This older gentleman is looking for a retirement home (aka couch) to call his very own! Scout had a large hernia removed and is recovering very well while in our care. He has not been permitted to play with other dogs due to his injury/healing. He would do best in a cat free home we believe. Scout really likes to go for walks, play with toys and hang out with our volunteers. He also really really likes treatos! Won't you apply to meet this semi-active senior fella!?
_____________

LENNY
Male, 1 1/2 years, 25 lbs
Lenny is back and looking for a new home. According to his previous adopter, Lenny does not like chickens and will chase them. This sweet boy did well with cats when he was previously at the shelter, and did well with other dogs. Lenny is house-trained we are told, and he walks on a leash like the goodest boy! He may do better in a home with only women, but we are working to assess that with our staff and volunteers. Apply to meet this sweet little dude!
_____________

LACY
Female, 1 1/2 years, 40 lbs
Lovely Lacy is back and looking for a new home to call her very own. She is still very much a young kiddo that's working really hard on her potty-training; but we are told by her previous adopter that she is crate-trained. She will hold it for as long as she can, but sometimes accidents happen! Lacy has gotten along with other dogs during supervised playtime- she's a bundle of energy with places to go, people to see, and things to do! Due to her energy level and age, we believe Lacy may be better suited in a home with older children. If you're looking for an adventure buddy to go swimming with, play fetch with, she's your gal! So grab your running shoes and get down here to meet this lovely lady!!
_____________

SALLIE
Female, 2 years, 50 lbs
Sweet Sallie here is searching for the paw-fect new family! Sallie was a stray dog who wandered up to someone's property. The nice people that took care of her briefly, tell us that she was an outside doggo, so we cannot be sure of her house-training status at this time. We are told that she does well with kids and other dogs, and walks well on a leash. She did chase the outdoor kitty cats at their home, so we advise a cat free home for her!
_____________

BEAR
Male, 1 year, 51 lbs
Teddy and Bear are best bros and on the search for a new home to call their very own. These boys can be adopted together or separately. They are big, fluffy, and treat-motivated! So like the best teddy bears are- not too big, not too small, juuuuuuuuuust right :) Apply to meet these boys!

_____________

SIRIUS
Male, 3 years, 74 lbs
Contrary to his name, this big guy is a fluffy goof! He is terrified of kitty cats (like he pees terrified). We know...they can be pretty scary sometimes :) Sirius has gotten along with other dogs during supervised playtime, but he can be particular about his playmates. As always, we do require a meet and greet with other dogs in the home. Sirius really likes to play with toys- allllll kinds of toys- when it's his turn to go outside. He is a big fella and is learning that just because he can pull us around on a leash, that's not how it's supposed to work. Sirius is a fairly active dog who is still learning his size and manners when it comes to greeting people. Just because we can knock our new friends over, doesn't mean we should ;) He just gets SO EXCITED! He also knows some basic commands and takes a treat ever so gently.
If you're looking for an active dog to spend your days with, Sirius may just be the guy for you! Apply to meet him!
_____________

MADDEN
Male, 1 year, 45lbs
Mr. Madden is looking for (preferably) a male-dog free home to call his own. According to his previous owner, Madden does not like other male dogs; but he does get along with cats! With that being said......Madden has been evaluated by a local dog trainer and did fine with the male dogs while there. We believe an experienced dog owner would be his ideal adopter. Madden walks like a pro on the leash, loves tennis balls, and is an overall good boy! He is a medium energy dog who still has some puppy energy to burn!
_____________

STITCH
Male, 2-3 years, 44 lbs
Stitch is back and looking for the paw-fect home to call his forever and ever! If you’re looking for a dog with a big personality and a playful spirit, Stitch is your guy! Stitch is an energetic extrovert who loves toys, staying active, and spending quality time with his people. True to his namesake from Lilo & Stitch, he’s full of charm, curiosity, and just the right amount of mischief to keep life exciting. Stitch gets along wonderfully with his sister, Lilo, but he also does well on his own. Together, they’ve greeted other dogs through the fence with happy interest, showing great potential for dog-friendly homes. While Stitch enjoys following Lilo’s lead on walks, he’s not a fan of cold mornings—can you blame him? With a little warmth and encouragement, he’ll be ready to embrace outdoor adventures when the weather is just right. This lovable goofball has a heart of gold and a zest for life. Whether he’s romping with toys, enjoying a cuddle session, or keeping you entertained with his antics, Stitch is ready to make your days brighter. Will you be the one to give him the forever home he deserves?

BLUE
FOSTER CARE
Male, 1 year, 43 lbs
Meet Blue! This beautiful boy knows sit and has done well with most dogs that he has been introduced to during supervised playtime. Blue does need some leash work, but does really well with a harness as opposed to a leash. He is a medium energy dude and loves a good game of tug-o-war.....he's never lost! If you're up for the challenge, apply to meet this beautiful boy!
_____________

STRIDER
FOSTER CARE
Male, 10 years, 74 lbs
Senior guy Strider is currently being loved on by one of our awesome foster families! In his foster home, there is another younger dog, cats, and children. Here's what his foster mom had to say about him: "What a gem! Strider is laid back, quiet, calm, and has such a gentle personality. He is a very well-behaved boy! He likes to relax near you and get pets and luvins'. He also really likes to go on short walks, take naps and his quiet time too (after all, he's 10 years old). Strider rides well in the car, walks great on a leash, and is house-trained. Pretty much ignores Finn (the younger dog in the home) and our cats. He’s pretty perfect!! :)" We think so too! Apply to meet this senior gentle soul!

BOURBON
FOSTER CARE
Male, 4 years, 95lbs
Like a top shelf bourbon, this big fella is strong, smooth and gets better with age.
Bourbon LOVES his tennis balls but will eat them so a huge ball is best! He likes any toys really, but tennis balls are his fave! . This big guy will do anything for a toy or a treat. Treatos are his second favorite thing if you couldn't tell Bourbon can be dog selective, but he is also a moderately energetic dude. His size and energy can be intimidating to other dogs. He has gotten along with quieter female and male dogs through a fence. Bambi is currently his BFF during playtime thru a fence. Bourbon really enjoys his time outside playing and spending time with our volunteers. Hes a big ole baby! Always happy, always down to play or go for a walk!! He is anti-cats (a hard no). And he's potty-trained!! An active adopter who will take him for walks and include him on their adventures would be his absolute dream!! Bourbon has been waiting for over a year to find the paw-fect person to love him unconditionally. He was on an SOS list in 2024 and was rescued by the Second Chance Program. Bourbon was brought back to the shelter in February 2025 in an effort to work on his socialization with other dogs and to get him more attention to find a home.

Fancy was found by the Animal Clinic here in Athens, probably looking for bigger and better, true to her namesake! This girl is just as sweet as she can be! Apply to make her the newest lady of your humble abode, you won't regret it :)

Male, 1 year, 22 lbs
Handsome man Kilo is ready for new adventures and a new family to love! We are told that he is good with kids, dogs, cats and that he is house-, crate- and leash-trained! Holy dog-gone awesomeness! We are also told by his previous owner that Kilo does NOT like to share his food bowl with other dogs in the home, so an experienced dog owner would be preferred. Apply to meet this paw-fect fella!
